  • Director of Athletics

    St. John’s is seeking to fill the position of director of athletics effective immediately.

    Reporting to the president and serving as a member of the leadership team, the director of athletics is responsible for implementing, coordinating and maintaining all athletic programs and curriculum for students in grades 9-12, including interscholastic competition in 29 sports over three seasons for a high school of 1,170 students.

    Aligned with our mission statement, St. John’s athletic programs strive to hold our student-athletes to the highest standards and teach them to give one’s full effort, both toward individual progress and toward the development of the team. The director works closely with coaches and athletes to develop and sustain an athletic culture in which this vision is nourished.

    Responsibilities include hiring, evaluating, developing and retaining an engaged and responsive coaching staff; developing, administering and assessing athletic programs to ensure alignment with the school’s Catholic Lasallian mission; overseeing the athletics department budget; addressing athlete and parent concerns; and cultivating an athletic culture that is aligned with the mission of excellence and strong character.
     
    St. John’s is a member of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, known on a national level for the caliber of its athletic competition.
     
    Position Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, strong problem-solving and organizational skills and dynamic interpersonal skills. Ideally, candidates should have prior experience as a teacher and coach, as well as five years of experience in athletic administration, preferably in an independent school, and a bachelor’s degree is required (master’s degree preferred).

  • English Teacher

    St. John’s College High School seeks an energetic and experienced English teacher to join the faculty. Qualified candidates must possess:

    St. John’s College High School seeks an energetic and experienced part-time Latin teacher to join the faculty. Qualified candidates must possess:
    • A bachelor's degree or advanced degree and upper-school teaching experience.

  • Science Teacher

  • Short-Term Substitute/Standardized Test Proctor

    St. John’s College High School is seeking responsible and qualified individuals for the role of Short-Term Substitute/Test Proctor. Responsibilities may include:
    • Coverage of classes for teachers who are absent (no lesson planning required)
    • Administration of standardized testing (SAT and ACT testing that will take place within the school)
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications
    • High school diploma
    • Interest in or experience working with students of high school age
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to follow explicit written directions
    • Attention to detail
    • Flexibility in daily schedule
    • Ability to transition to different tasks
    • Ability to command the respect and attention of individuals and groups
     
    Selected candidates will complete a background check and child protection training. High-need time periods will occur during standardized test administration periods, which occur monthly. Compensation is based on daily assignments and/ or test-proctoring responsibilities. As these positions are part-time, no health or other benefits are provided.
